Cross Country 2024-2025 Season Outlook
Cross Country returns to the courses this week as they kicked off their season at the Cool Breeze Invitational on Saturday. Entering their ninth year, the programs are ready for another exciting season. Head Coach Neil Massaro, enters the season as his first year as the head coach, after being an assistant coach for the last three years under Josh Espinoza. Massaro has three new assistant coaches on his staff this season, Joel Bomberger, Kellie Chou, and Parker Mindel.
The Tritons graduated three seniors last year including standout runner Ella Murray who won the first-ever CIF Individual Title last season. Runners to watch this year include senior Ashley Gundlach and Josiah Cowell. Ashley enters her senior year as the team captain and a leader for the Tritons. She has played a pivotal part in this program and has been awarded all-league honors for the last three years. Senior Josiah Cowell returns for his final year and has progressed tremendously in the last three years, earning all-league honors the last two years. Other seniors on the team include Samuel Collier and Akyli Maze. Juniors on the team include Mila Applebee, Lila Glidewell, Astrid Hong, Nessa Sesler, and Carsin Brandenberger. Sophomores are Avery Burke, Taylor Gundlach, Azaio Maze, and Wendell Stratton. Newcomers to the program include Aaron Beshai, Joseph Gudino, and Josiah Maxwell.
The Orange and Navy will host the Triton Invitational on Tuesday, October 1st at Crystal Cove for both programs. Both programs will race in the San Joaquin League where there are 12 other schools. League Finals are on Wednesday, November 6th at Mason Regional Park and CIF Prelims are on Friday, November 15th.
