Girl’s Cross Country Ranked For First Time in Program History

For the first time in program history, Pacifica Christian Girls Cross Country is ranked in the most recent CIF-SS Division 5 polls!  In the November 6th polls, the Tritons clinched the number 10 slot and are in good company with other league opponents such as Samueli Academy, St. Margarets, and Western Christian.

Led by Head Coach Josh Espinoza who has just entered his sixth season as the leader of the program, the Orange and Navy have had another solid run at it this year. Back on October 3rd, the Tritons hosted their annual Cross Country Invite where senior Ella Murray took home gold for the first time in the program's history. In addition, Murray broke the school record three-mile time at 17:22 earlier this season at the OC Championships. Other key runners are Junior Ashley Gundlach and Akyli Maze who are both returning for their third year on the team and have played a key role in the Triton's success this season. In league prelims last week, the team finished third in the San Joaquin League and secured a spot in the CIF Preliminary Race this Saturday, November 11.

"Our girls being ranked means a lot to our team right now because it gives us the confidence boost we needed heading into CIF prelims this weekend." stated Head Coach Josh Espinoza "Both girls and boys have been working hard since the summer in hopes to make school history this weekend and make sure to watch out for senior Ella Murray who is individually ranked in the top 10 for CIF Division 5."

The team will run in CIF Prelims this Saturday, November 11 at Mt. Sac. The race is set to start at 8:59 am.
