Tritons beat Lions 3-1 in League Opener

The Girls Volleyball team was back in action Friday afternoon as they hosted TVT at Pacifica Christian's annual First Friday event. This was only the third home game for the Tritons, and the first San Joaquin League matchup this season. Last season, these two teams split, each winning one game.  After dropping the first set 23-25, the Orange and Navy regrouped themselves, winning the next three sets by more than 10 points each time. After the loss, the TVT Lions are now 4-2 and the Tritons move up to 7-5 and are 1-0 in the league.

The Orange and Navy faced an early setback, dropping the first set in a closely contested battle, but the Tritons came back in the second set strong, taking a commanding 25-14 win. They continued to bring the momentum into the third and fourth sets, winning those 25-13 and 25-15 respectively.

Junior setter Addie Roberson was her usual consistent self, with 40 assists offensively. Roberson has been a key player for the Triton's offense this year, continuing to produce quality and consistent sets. Senior Chara Wondercheck led the team in kills, aces, and digs. Wondercheck tallied 15 kills, four aces, and 11 digs for the Orange and Navy. Chara was locked in yesterday, making it very difficult for the Lions to defend her up on the net. Senior libero Charlotte Carlson tallied four aces from behind the line and was busy defending off the Lion's best attacker Maya Coblentz-Brown who was the leading offensive and defensive player for TVT. Senior Kaelin Rieke was a force up on the net, with five blocks and multiple kills for the Tritons.

The Orange and Navy have won the last two games, only dropping one set between the two. The Tritons will host Samueli Academy in a nonleague matchup on Tuesday, September 3rd in the Triton Event Center. The game is set to start at 5:15 pm and can be watched on NFHS here
