Track and Field Qualify for Three Events To Compete in CIF-SS Finals
Track and Field had another fantastic weekend after sending 12 athletes to the CIF-SS Preliminaries. The Tritons qualified for three events in the CIF-SS Finals on Saturday afternoon in Moorpark, California.
Junior Charis Wondercheck placed third in the 100-meter hurdles in the divisional preliminaries after her stellar performance in the San Joaquin League finals, where she secured an individual league title. Wondercheck also qualified for the CIF-SS Finals for the 300-meter hurdles. She is the first female track and field student-athlete to move on to the finals in CIF in two events. The Boy's 4x400 team will also be moving on to the finals next weekend after their record performance in Carpinteria. Roary Erskine, Caden Knox, Noah Evans, and Aiden Hart ran the event with a time of 3:35.95 and placed in the top nine to move on. These four male student-athletes are the first to ever compete in the CIF-SS Finals for Pacifica Christian.
Other notable performances of the weekend included a 5:35 mile by Senior Cassandra Cross and a school record for Senior Nathan Kutscher after running a 4:44.25 mile. Sophomore Aiden Hart also had a solid 300-meter hurdle time of 43.74 seconds.
CIF Southern Section Finals will take place on Saturday, May 14th in Moorpark, California.
