Girls Tennis Moves to 8-1, Remains Undefeated in League
Pacifica Christian Girls Tennis has been off to an impressive season so far under the new and steady leadership of Head Coach John Staph. The Tritons have been on a winning streak since September 26, more recently clinching key league victories Monday and Tuesday this week. The squad who are 8-1 overall and 5-0 in league were on the road both days defeating CVCS and then TVT. Currently, at the halfway point in league play, the Tritons are in first place in the San Joaquin League, as they remain undefeated against all five opponents. After being league champions last season, the squad is looking to clinch the league title for the second year in a row.
The Orange and Navy traveled down south to take on CVCS Monday afternoon as they defeated the Eagles 18-0. This was the first clean sweep of the season for the squad as they didn't drop a single set. The Tritons carried their momentum over to Tuesday afternoon as they defeated the TVT Lions 17-1. The team is led by the senior leadership of Kiana Giunta, Lexie MacDougall, and Aubrey Callaghan. All three singles swept their opponents Monday and Tuesday afternoon and they have continued to be a dominant force for the team this year.
When asked about the team's success this season, Head Coach John Staph stated, "I'm so proud of all our amazing girls, undefeated in league games at this point- back-to-back wins this week and Thursday looks like a repeat from Monday's match so we could have a three-peat by end of the week! Webb is next week and we need a big win there to cinch a league title!"
The Tritons will host CVCS on Thursday, October 5th at 4:15 pm at OCC.
