Girls Tennis Clinch League Title
Pacifica Christian Girls Tennis defeated Tarbut V Torah 17-1, on senior day, to clinch the first outright San Joaquin League title in school history. Last season, the Tritons were co-champions with the Webb Schools, as they only suffered one loss in league play. Led by first-year head coach John Staph, the Orange and Navy finished the year with an overall record of 13-1, and an undefeated 10-0 in league play. With this record, the Tritons clinched the number one seed from the league and automatically qualified for the CIF Division 3 playoffs, which are set to start the week of October 30th. Having finished runner-up in Division 4 last season, the squad is looking to make another deep post-season run.
"I am so proud of this team and all the good work they have done over the course of the season," said Head Coach John Staph. "Led by an incredible group of seniors, the girls fought hard all season, and it paid off sweeping the league undefeated and winning the first outright league title in school history!"
The Orange and Navy will compete in the San Joaquin League individual tournament next week, before starting team CIF post-season play the week after that. The individual league tournament will be held on Tuesday, October 24, which Pacifica Christian will host at Orange Coast College. The first serve is set to start at 2:00pm.
The individual league tournament will determine which of the doubles and singles players will qualify for the CIF individual prelims on November 20.
