Tritons Tough Out League Wins

Girl's Tennis and the Boy's Cross Country squad both took home major league wins today. The runners snagged a third-place finish during their League Cluster in Irvine and the Lady Tritons secured a close 9-9 win that came down to individual scores against Rosary Academy at home.

XC Head Coach Josh Espinoza's crew placed well in their first Academy League race of the year. Senior Nathan Kutscher secured fourth place out of thirty runners with a 17:23 three-mile event. Junior Ian Cross was a minute behind in the three-mile race and placed ninth overall. Racing in 90-degree weather, the Orange and Blue put out a strong performance and are favorites to go far in their season this year.GT

Out on the courts, the Girl's Tennis team toughed out a nail-biter against familiar foes at home. Junior Bree Clark and Sophomore Kiana Giunta each had perfect days out on the court, going undefeated in their individual matches. Gracie Formsma and Aubrey Callaghan also earned an overall win in the doubles matches against the Royals. Rosary Academy scored 71 individual points, while the Tritons secured 82 individual points. The Tritons improve 6-1 on the season and continue to assert their dominance in the San Joaquin League.

"The girls showed up ready to play, fought hard to the end, and played smart. They have a lot to be proud of - Rosary has a solid team and that was a big win for our girls," states Head Coach Ben Roberson.

The Cross Country squad races again on October 2nd in the Temecula Twilight Invitational and Girl's Tennis is back on the road at Sage Hill in another San Joaquin League matchup on Friday, September 24th.
