Girls Basketball Defeat Troy, Advanced to Round of 16
The Pacifica Christian Girls Basketball team is off to the Round of 16 in the CIF-SS Division 3AA Playoffs after a win at home against Troy High School. The Tritons beat the visiting Warriors 43-35 on Thursday evening and will now travel to Chaparral High School on Saturday, February 15th.
After almost a two-week break from their last competition, the Tritons started a little slow in the first half, scoring only 18 points compared to the Warriors' 13. It was the third quarter that won the game for the Orange and Navy, as they went on a hot streak, knocking down 13 points and only allowing eight from the visiting Warriors increasing their lead to 11. Junior Vivian Villagrana had a team-high 17 points and Caylie Villagrana had 14 points and five assists. Junior Angie Martinez had eight rebounds, five assists, and five blocks.
The Tritons will continue their playoff run Saturday, February 15th as they will travel to Chaparral High School. Chaparral entered as the number two team in their league, beating Murrieta Valley 48-45 in the first round.
