Girls Basketball Shows Well at Cali Live
Although summer is in full swing, athletics have not stopped at Pacifica Christian. This past weekend the Triton Girls Basketball Team competed at the Cali Live Showcase. The Orange and Navy were placed in the Destination Irvine Bracket and finished out the weekend walking away with three wins and one loss. The Tritons beat Notre Dame from San Jose, San Deigo High School, and Valencia High School. With two starters having graduated this past year, this would be the team's first time playing with a new lineup. Senior Caylie Villagrana and Juniors Vivian Villagrana and Angi Martinez were dominant out on the court, showcasing their talents and leadership amongst the team.
"I was really impressed with how quickly the team bonded and how hard they played both ends of the floor," said Head Coach Pablo Martinez. "I am looking forward to enjoying the process and seeing this group continue to grow throughout the summer and into the fall."
Monday night the Tritons faced off against former Trinity League powerhouse Rosary, where the Orange and Navy pulled away in overtime, beating the Royals by two. The Orange and Navy will compete in the Palm Springs Summer Classic this weekend where they will play 29 Palms, Hertiage, and Glendale in pool play.
