Bio
Shayna grew up in Santa Cruz County, California, and attended Monte Vista Christian High School. During her high school career, she played varsity volleyball, soccer, and track, serving as captain for two of those teams. She led spiritual formation on campus as a Bible Leadership student. Shayna spent the majority of her childhood going to the beach on weekends with her family and surfing with her father when sports schedules allowed. During COVID-19, when all extracurriculars were shut down, she fell in love with the sport and surfed at least three to four times a week. In the summer after graduating high school, Shayna and her family helped restart the Santa Cruz Christian Surfers (CS) chapter. After moving to Irvine for college, she joined CS Huntington Beach, where she is now one of the chapter leaders.
Currently, Shayna plays for the UC Irvine Women’s Club Soccer team and is in her last year of a Bachelor’s Degree in Informatics. During her freshman year of college, Shayna started working in the UCI Campus Recreation Department as an Intramural referee. She is now a Competitive Sports Assistant, where she manages club teams, oversees intramural sports referees and supervisors and operates intramural sports leagues.
This is her first year working at Pacifica Christian as a Surf Coach. Shayna is excited to enter the Triton community and help the students at Pacifica grow in their relationship with God as well as their athletic abilities. She is blessed to have this opportunity to share her love for the Lord and competitive passion with the team.
In her free time, Shayna enjoys playing beach volleyball, pickleball, and spikeball, snowboarding, drinking iced coffee, reading, traveling, and hanging out with friends and family.
