Bio

A Dana Point native, Swartzbaugh attended Dana Hills High School, where he was standout on the boys volleyball team. As a four year starer, he helped the Dolphins achieve a 51-30 record over four seasons including a 21-12 finish and a CIF Division 1 semifinal appearance in 2008. Swartzbaugh was a key member of the South Coast League championship team during his sophomore year. 

Swartzbaugh continued his volleyball career at the Division 1 level with the University of San Deigo. During his freshman year he appeared in 10 matches and 21 sets competing against one of the toughest NCAA schedules in the country facing 27 ranked teams ina 29 match sesaon. 

Following his collegiate career, Swartzbaugh transitioned into coaching, building a reputation for excellence and leadership at some of Southern California's top volleyball programs. His first role as a varsity assistant coach and JV Head Coach at Capistrano Valley Christian School (CVCS) showcased his ability to develop teams and players. Under his guidance CVCS achieved a 19-2 record and a CIF Division 6 championship in 2021. The following year, the program went 29-11, reaching the CIF Division 4 Championship game. 

Swartzbaugh also demonstrated his skill as a program builder when he became the head varsity beach volleyball coach at Beckman High School. He successfully launched the program, enabling it to compete in the highly competive Orange County Beach Volleyball League against powerhouse teams like Newport Harbor and Huntington Beach. 

In addition to his high school coaching roles, Swartzbaugh has gained valuable club coaching expereince with SoCal Spitfires, American Beach Volleyball, Balboa Bay Volleyball Club and currently A4 Volleyball.

it changes with the season of life, but currently I listen to a lot of Rufus du Sol

What is your favorite breakfast food/meal?

A spanish latte and almond croissant

You travel anywhere in the world, cost does not matter, where are you going? 

Italy 100%, Japan would be a close 2nd

If you could play any sport besides your own, what would it be and why?

Football (Soccer), I've always had a deep appreciation for the beautiful game
