Tritons Finish Third in San Joaquin League

Pacifica Christian's Track and Field team had a historical showing at the San Joaquin League Finals last Wednesday. Both girls and boys team finished in third place overall and had six league titles in different events.

Junior Caeden Connell placed second in the high jump and advanced to CIF-SS Preliminaries. Senior Nola Mihaly-Garvin placed first in the Triple Jump, third in the Long Jump, and will move on to CIF-SS Preliminaries for the Triple Jump. Senior Cassie Cross will also advance to CIF-SS Preliminaries after a third place finish in the Girl's 1600m race.

Qualifying for multiple events are Junior Charis Wondercheck, Junior Noah Evans, Sophomore Aiden Hart, Senior Nathan Kutscher, and the Boy's Relay team. Wondercheck has had quite the season and league finals were no exception. The Junior competed in four different events and nearly medaled in every one. She will advance to CIF-SS Preliminaries for the Girl's 100M Hurdles and the Girl's 300M Hurdles. Kutscher also medaled in his two events and will compete in the CIF-SS Preliminaries for the Boy's 1600M race and the Boy's 3200M race. Hart is also headed to CIF-SS Preliminaries and will compete in the Boy's 300m Hurdles, in addition to racing with the Boy's Relay team. Evans will also advance to CIF-SS Preliminaries for the Boy's 200M and with the Boy's Relay team.

The sqauds rounded out the event with six school records, 21 personal records, and the highest team finish in the history of the program. Head Coach Josh Espinoza also walked away as Girl's Coach of the Year!

CIF-SS Preliminaries will take place on Saturday, May 7th at Carpinteria High school.
