Peterson's Late Goal Leads Tritons to League Win Against San Gabriel Academy

Pacifica Christian Boys Soccer picked up their first Academy League win on Tuesday as they hosted San Gabriel Academy. The Tritons picked up their third win of the season, first league win and are now 3-5-2 as they head into the bulk of their season this January.

It was John Peterson who scored the game winner in the 79th minute of regulation to put the Tritons ahead 1-0 with practically no time left on the clock for the visiting Eagles to score. The ball was bouncing in the offensive third for the Tritons as Peterson touched it to Sophomore Cruz Alacron who played the ball perfectly infront of Peterson who took one touch, then burried it in the back of the net, beating the Eagles goaltender.

"Our team has been remarkably tough and resilient. We have been quite disheartened with our inability to score goals. But, the boys also have been a difficult team to score against which has kept us in every match." said Head Coach Johnny Marmelstein. "John Peterson has been a microcosm of our season. After being our leading scorer last season, he has struggled to score goals. But, he has kept working hard and raising his effort in every game , and the breakthrough came in extra time of a huge league game to give us the win. I'm so happy for John and the team for demonstrating such grit and persistence.

The Orange and Navy have eight league games remaining and will host Waldorf in a nonleague matchup on Friday January 10th at Vanguard University with a 3:15 kick off.
