Nineteen players were in the field going into day one and nine advanced to CIF Finals on Tuesday. Day one was played at San Clemente Golf Course and day two was at San Juan Hills Golf Club.
Freshman Matthew Hull has been a standout this season and has brought a lot of talent to this team being so young. Hull finished fifth after two shooting a 79 on day one and 67 on day two shooting one of the lowest scores that day. Right behind him in sixth place was Junior Eston Kallins who put up 73 and 75. Senior Menlo College commit Charles Thurston took seventh shooting 71, 78 only one stroke behind Kallins.
Aside from the individual performances, the Boy's Golf Team has qualified for CIF for the first time in program history. On Monday, May 15th, the squad will send their best six players to compete as a team in the CIF Division 5 Finals at Western Hills Country Club. The format consists of one day of 18 holes, counting the top five out of six scores. The Tritons have a solid chance of winning as they have beaten some of the teams in the division during the regular season.
"I am so proud of these boys and their work ethic this season," remarks Head Coach Jeff Anderson "We have a great team with a lot of talent and I am excited that they get to showcase it during CIF as individuals and as a team!"
