Tritons Defeat #6 Foothill in CDM Beach Bash, Continue Four Game Winning Streak

Pacifica Christian Boys Basketball picked up a big win Tuesday evening against Foothill High School in the CDM Beach Bash. The Tritons beat the Knights 55-48 and are now on a four-game winning streak, improving to an overall record of 5-3. Entering the game the Division 1 Knights were 4-2, and ranked sixth in Orange County. "That was a great team win against a very good basketball team that is well coached and always well prepared." remarked Coach Berokoff  "I am proud of our guys for staying connected and believing they could win."

The Orange and Navy were coming off a big win the night before against Orange Lutheran and the Knights were coming off a 70-61 win against Beckman back on December 1st. Logan Stewart had his second double-double of the tournament with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Stewart has been a force for the Tritons on both offense and defense and leads the team in rebounds, averaging over seven per game. Hudson Reynolds came alive in the fourth quarter with eleven points, hitting back-to-back threes to give the team the go-ahead late in the game. Reynolds battled against the Knights's defense including a diving play late in the game to give the Tritons possession of the ball. EJ Spillman continues to be a steady player on the court for the team as he had 10 points, seven rebounds, and five assists. Spillman leads the team in points and assists, averaging over five assists per game.

Despite a well-organized and aggressive offensive effort by Foothill, the Tritons played steady defense and broke down Knights's tall defensive players scoring 25 points in the fourth quarter, compared to Foothill's 16. The Orange and Navy shot 68% from the free throw line and were 9-13 in the fourth quarter alone.

The team will have a well-deserved few days off and be back at it on Friday, December 8th against Palos Verdes for Pacifica Christian's Annual Silent Night Game. This will be the Triton's first home game in the Triton Event Center for the 2023-2024 season. Tip-off is set for 7:00 pm.
