Tritons Sweep Saints on the Sand
Boy's Beach Volleyball headed to Irvine on Wednesday afternoon where they battled Crean Lutheran on their home courts and came away with the first Pacifica Christian win of the season. The 7-0 sweep comes after two losses and is Head Coach Tim Maruyama's first win with the beach program.
"I am very proud to get our first win as a Varsity beach program," remarks Maruyama. "Especially proud of everybody who stepped in to play with a new partnership with a few peoples out sick. The boys played aggressive volleyball putting balls away and having fun doing it".
The match started strong on the Crean Lutheran courts where the singles play snagged solid wins for both Tritons. Seniors Bennett Penticuff and Miller Clark secured a doubles win against two tough Saints players but ultimately earned the 15-10 win. The 4v4 matches proved to be a strength for the Orange and Navy. Seniors Matthew Macpherson, Knox Vail, Buzz Hodson, and Penticuff had great chemistry on the sand, earning them a team win. The Tritons walked away with no losses and a boost in their confidence as they improved to a 2-1 record.
Boy's Beach Volleyball squares off against Tesoro High School at Newland St. Beach at 3:30 pm on October 14th, permitting the oil spill situation has been cleared.
