Fall Sports Wrap-Up | Winter Sports Preview
As we enter the middle of November, most of Pacifica Christian's fall sports have finished their seasons and we are gearing up for an exciting Winter Season. Here is a quick recap of what happened this fall and what to look forward to in the next few months!
FALL SPORTS RECAP
Girls Golf had an exciting season this year as they honored four seniors on the team: Izzy Samson, Kaitlyn Dion, Grace Garochea, and Madi Drotter. For the first time in program history, the Tritons had four girls qualify for the League Tournament, including Kaitlyn Dion, Izzy Samson, Madi Drotter, and freshman Sarah Moniak. All four of those girls were awarded San Joaquin All-League Honors.
Girls Volleyball finished the season 13-12 and qualified for the postseason for the ninth year in a row. They graduated six seniors this year including Chara Wondercheck, Charlotte Carlson, Kaelin Rieke, Gia Gale, Delaney Peterson, and London Wilson. Addie Roberson had 450 assists this season and Chara Wondercheck had 198 kills. The Tritons had five girls earn San Joaquin All-League Honors including Chara Wondercheck and Addie Roberson earning first team, Carlson and Rieke earning second team, and junior Emma Hartman was awarded honorable mention.
Girls Tennis had another successful year as they advanced to the postseason for the fifth time in a row, every year since the program was founded back in 2021. The Tritons finished the season with an 11-7 record and advanced to the CIF-SS Quarterfinals. Senior Ella Evans and Junior Charlie Rogers were awarded San Joaquin League First Team.
Boys Beach Volleyball filled three different teams this season and continues to participate in the OC Beach Volleyball League, the most competitive league in Orange County with some top talent. The Tritons will return their entire varsity squad next season as they did not have a single senior on the squad.
Boys and Girls Cross Country has had a very impressive season thus far, as they are the only fall program that is still in action. In September, the Tritons hosted the Triton Invitational at Crystal Cove State Park where the girl's team took first place overall, as well as first place individually with Junior Lila Glidewell taking home the medal. The highlight of the season was when both the boy's and girls' teams clinched the San Joaquin League Title, a first in program history, as well as Lila Glidewell taking home first place for the girls. This secured both teams a spot in the CIF preliminary race. First-year Head Coach Neil Massaro was awarded Coach of the Year. The Tritons will graduate five seniors: Josiah Cowell, Samueli Colier, Ashley Gundlach, Akyli Maze, and Katie Fischer. Between the two teams, the squad took home nine all-league honors including Josiah Cowell, Samuel Collier, Joseph Gudnio, Wendell Stratton and Carson Brandenberger for the boys. The girls had four including Lila Glidewell, Ashley Gundlach, Akyli Maze, and Katie Fischer.
Surf continues to compete in the Sunset Surf League as they still have a few meets left. The Tritons have had a very successful season, including a huge win against Marina where three surfers took home first place in their individual heats. The Orange and Navy have five seniors on the team this year including Peter Coffin, Owen MacPherson, Reed Cleary, Katie Fischer and Nathan Wintrode.

The Orange and Navy will face off against Santa Margarita in the 2nd Annual Pacifica Christian Girls Basketball Showcase on November 26th, where there is expected to be some of the top talent in California in the Triton Event Center.
